San Diego
Turtle & Tortoise Society is ready to assist in turtle and tortoise rescue from people
who have found a lost or injured animal and from people
who no longercan care for an animal due to
illness, age, financial issues, etc.
Adoption or re-homing, is a major function of the Society. The animals
that are turned in to the Society are placed in foster care and are adopted to
homes approved by our Adoptions Committee.
In order to adopt from our Society, you must be a
member and fill out the appropriate adoption request forms. A Care
Consultant will make an appointment with you to visit your yard to ensure your
environment is appropriate and safe for the turtle or tortoise species you plan to adopt.
It is also acceptable for you to email photos of your yard, enclosure and
turtle and tortoise house to us to review and help you with any suggestions,
ideas or approval. You can do this anytime at
adoptions@sdturtle.org.
California Desert Tortoise
Box Turtles
Water Turtles
Russian Tortoise
African Spurred Sulcata
Other species are available less frequently, but please complete an adoption
form and we will add you to our waiting list.
You can email any questions about adoption and/or your adoption form for immediate
processing to
adoptions@sdturtle.org
