Dr. Proenca is no stranger to SDTTS; she has offered her expertise on several occasions re: care of our native California desert tortoise, she has fostered baby Russian Tortoises for SDTTS…and of course, fell in love with them and adopted them! Dr. Proenca is also an expert on the spaying and neutering of tortoises/turtles to avoid accidental backyard breeding of more unwanted Chelonians.
