Sarah Thompson and Dr. Barbour from the San Diego Humane Society will be presenting on the process that a turtle or tortoise would go through when they arrive at our facility. After the explanation on the intake and housing process, Dr. Barbour will discuss some interesting or unique cases as well as the anatomical differences between chelonians and our canine/feline friends that we see so many of in the shelter on a daily basis.
Terry Robinson has had a love of turtles and tortoises since childhood and currently fosters numerous turtles and tortoises for the society. He will be bringing and speaking on the diet and husbandry of several of the exotic turtles and tortoises he is currently caring for.
Each December we bring our family and friends to share a holiday feast while we take time to share our turtle pictures and stories, and celebrate the year's achievements together.

Dr. Todd Cecil from the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center in La Mesa will be speaking on hibernation & diet.
Craft Fair at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in La Mesa
Richard Fife will be speaking on the Husbandry of Turtles and Tortoises. His talk will include housing, temperature, lighting, diet, reproduction, care of hatchlings, and other aspects of turtle and tortoise husbandry.

Brett Baldwin, who is the Animal Care Manager of Herpetology and Ichthyology for the San Diego Zoo, will be speaking on his job at the Zoo and his travels including his recent trip to Madagascar helping with the 10,000 radiated torts that were confiscated.
Leslie Duval, children’s book author and publisher, will present her book Too Big to Lose: The True Story of a Young Girl’s Friendship with a Galapagos Tortoise named Sam.

Thomas Boyer will be our March 9th speaker. Dr. Boyer is a DVM, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, at The Pet Hospital of Penasquitos. He has spoken several times at our meetings and will be speaking on turtle disease and health issues.

We have some open positions that need to be filled by people who truly love these animals and have time to fulfill what is needed for the position. Please apply if you can.
