World Turtle Day Micro-Chipping Event

  • 5500 Gaines Street San Diego, CA, 92110 United States (map)

San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) is dedicated to serving all of the pets and their people.  One of the ways SDHS serves the community is by offering microchip clinics.  Every year SDHS celebrates World Turtle Day by hosting a microchip clinic for turtles and tortoises at the Gaines Street location.

Microchips are a tamper -proof, permanent means of identification. Microchips are more effective than tags, collars, and writings on the shell which can be removed or worn away.   Microchip placement helps deter pet theft and allow easier transportation across state and international boundaries.

Generally speaking, microchipping is a quick and relatively painless procedures.  Placing a microchip in a turtle or tortoise requires increased skill and experience than that of a dog or cat.

SDHS invites all turtle and tortoise owners to participate in the 2026 World Turtle Day microchip clinic.  If anyone would like to get their pet turtle or tortoise microchipped and are having difficulty providing the $40.00 fee, we encourage you to call SDHS directly at 619-279-5085.  Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event.
